Default After putting in new tie rod ends I noticed that I still had some play in the steering wheel. Can..

someone tell me what is the spec for steering wheel play (I can't access my Bentley manual)? Do I need any special tools to expose the underside of the steering column so I can check the universal joints for play? I would like to isolate the problem to the joints or the rack before going to the stealership.

TIA,

John

Default Probably 1/2" to 3/4" of play that you can see by moving the steering wheel with your fingertip.

I figure that the rack should have pretty much zero play so what I am feeling must be in the universal joints unless the rack is worn/out of adjustment.
