Default aftermarket warranty in CA

Does anyone know exactly what the deal is with aftermarket warranty in CA? warranty gold said they can't do them in CA due to some law the legistation passed. Accelwarranty doesn't offer them either in CA

Anybody currently trying to get one that some experience or advice.

Thanks

i think you have to go through Audi, or a dealer. try calling some used car sales man and see what they say.

Default here's the deal....

California's jacked up insurance laws don't allow us to purchase insurance from out of state companies ... most web-based services (warrantygold.com, etc) aren't based in Cali, therefore aren't allowed to sell their service here.

As Californians our options are VERY limited for ext warranty. You can either get one thru your dealer. My dealer quoted me $5,000 for extended warranty to 100k miles. No thanks.

However, there are a handful services in the state where you can still get it. Per 'Mo Brazen'-s recommendation, I used www.cartelligent.com. They are authorized to sell GE Extended Warranties. (I had GE on a previous car & was very pleased with it). Give them a call and ask for David Shapiro. He's a good guy and will set you up (tell him I sent you!!).

And yes, they insure turbo-charged cars including the S4.

Default Something hit the fan in the Fall of 2001...

Supposedly the CA law always was "only CA dealers can sell mech breakdown contacts". The notice you get with on-line quotes starting showing up about that time. Sounds like the CA dealers pressed to get it enforced.
