Annoying squeak from the left rear
This happens over small bumps at low speeds. I searched the forum and found suggestions on the e-brake lines and the metal clips holding the steel brake lines. I checked these things and found nothing. When the car is on a lift, I have hit the tire with a dead blow hammer, but can't get the noise to occur.
Pulling on the handbrake slightly reduces the volume and frequency of the noise, but does not completely eliminate it.
It seems this must be common, as I had the same noise on my A4 as I'm having on the S4.
The noise is a chirping type of sound... kind of like a cricket.
Any input appreciated.

Re: more info would help, miles, year, mods etc . . . how fat you are, you know . . .
OK... 150k miles... APR stage3 stuff... all recent. Noise was before and after mods, so clearly has nothing to do with the exhaust.
Brakes are RS4 at all 4 corners. The anti-rattle springs are installed correctly.
This exact same "cricket" squeak over small bumps was present on my 98 A4... also from the drivers side rear.

I just fixed this on mine....
The problem with mine was that the brake pads weren't bevelled correctly. The pad is supposed to be cut from the outer edge, inward at an angle to prevent the pad from contacting the rotor at a 90 Deg. angle on it's leading edge. As soon as I did this, the noise stopped.
I had the same problem, except mine did it ALL the time, more as the brakes heated up. Hitting bumps would make it slightly louder, and pulling the E-brake would just make the pitch of the noise deeper. Let me know if this helps at all.
