And another one leaves the fold...
Just wanted everyone to know that I am now an ex-owner of a 2001 S4 Avant.
Some of you may be outraged, others may cringe in horror, but I traded her in yesterday for a... Minivan.
Such is life that our needs and priorities change. I have a son on the way, and often play chauffer to my wife's parents these days, and I have need for abundant cargo space for music equipment and baby supplies.
Anyway, I bought a 2004 Nissan Quest. A strange looking vehicle both inside and out, but it's cool in it's own very different way from the S4. I'm actually enjoying cruising around in it quite a bit. My props to Dirito Bros. Nissan in Walnut Creek, CA who worked with me to get out of the Audi lease a year early and get me into the Quest with a minimum of bending over. It was actually probably the best sales experience I've ever had.
My S4 experience was a great one. It was actually very reliable, performed sublimely, and my dealer sales and service was a pleasure to work with.
As for the members of this forum and the NorCal Audi Club--a big thank you to you all. Despite the occasional bickering and drama, Audiworld is truly the best automotive forum on the Internet. I felt priveleged to own an S4 and learn and interact with you all.
I'll no longer be hanging out on the S4 forum (a bit too painful of a reminder of what I gave up), but I will frequent the Off Topic forum still. You can find me there should you happen to have any questions about *gasp* minivans.
For my final parting bit of wisdom: appreciate your S4s. It's truly a wonderful car. Perhaps not the master of any particular category, but so very excellent in such a wide range of things. It is a special vehicle, remember to enjoy it because the unique moments you share with it will not last forever.
Thanks again, and may all your roads be filled with curves and devoid of traffic.
