Default Anyone curious about what could be the "safest" k03 chip in regards to blowing turbos...

I think we have a (new) winner...at least IMO!

Went over to Porkchop's to test a Neuspeed M box ECU this early afternoon. I liked it so much that I am keeping it for a few days to try it out some more. Here are some observations so far....

The out-of-the-box timing was pretty nice on Mobil 93 octane gas. I was seeing high teens with 0, I repeat ZERO!, correction factor. We added a few percent of FUEL (not boost ;p) and 4-5 degrees of timing. After doing those lemmitweaks, we saw timing advance in the low 20s.

The boost is quite low. I have a MBC in parallel set to ~15.5-16 psi, but with the Nuespeed chip I didn't even hit enough boost for the MBC to kick in. It is pretty much a 1 bar chip, with peak boost right around 15 psi flat. Up top, it tapered to single digit boost pressure (IIRC, EFU said 9.6 psi at ~7k RPM). I've never seen an aftermarket chip taper this much up top, but then again I've yet to try TAP (Believe me when I say I will test this chip in due time).

My FATS times were right around 5 seconds, probaby due to the low boost levels. However, that is still a good increase in power from just a little boost increase and some good timing. IIRC, stock FATS times are almost 7 seconds.

In conclusion, I think this is the perfect chip for those of you looking for a nice boost in power while keeping K03s for the long term. You won't be the fastest one out there, but you'll be happy and won't have to worry as much about your turbos. Even my car, with the dentist drill and all, was fine pushing the car to redline numerous times.

Sorry for the long post ;p

Added a few percent of boost? You mean turned the MBC up?

Default FVCK#*(&$#(&!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I meant added a few percent of (primary) fuel.

Thanks for spotting that. I'm sure many would be confused.

Well hell, that's only .2 slower FATS wise than my 3+ on 91...so sad.

LOL. Yeah. Everyone would be running out to their car trying to turn up boost with lemmi.
