Default Anyone else disappointed with Michelin PS2?

When I bought my car, I was able to get a credit for new tires due to a bulge in one of them. I was in a time-bind and just went with the best summer tire that the local place had which was the PS2 in 225/45/17. The car had the PS A/S on there before, but well worn.

I swear the car doesn't feel as good with the PS2s on there now. They are plenty sticky, but they really feel like they are rolling over on me.

I guess I should have gone lower profile. I'm just running stock pressure 36/34.

Default I really love the Falken Azenis RT-615's. The sidewall feels very stiff (I'm a tire n00b but ...

it was designed for Autocross).

I think there should be data on the tire sidewall stiffness. If you bought from a major tire company (Belle, Discount, etc.) you get a satisfaction gaurantee IIRC.

Default I have the same size PS2's on my stock

wheels and they feel great, not like my toyo TR1's on my 19s but good otherwise.
I actually have them on the car now, and drove the **** out of it yesterday.
Never any rolling or sidewall issues, maybe I just drive too easy

Default I really like the BFG KDW2's... They last long and are pretty sticky

The Pilots just aren't worth the money IMO.

Default Are you scuffing the sidewall? Use some chalk to mark the tires and then go drive.

If it's not scuffing the chalk off, then you're not rolling over.

Default Those tires are louder than a drunken sorority girl taking it in the deuce by

a well-endowed ****-star. By the time they wore to the wear-bars, my KDW2s made my car sound like a 747.

Default They are quieter than my ES100's and Toyo T1S's.

But I really don't care about NVH anyway.

Default Those tires have an incredibly flexy sidewall for being top shelf performance tires.

I was amazed at how much I could flex it with my hand. IMO performance tires for 3500lb cars need to have a super stiff sidewall. Go feel the sidewalls of S03s and BFG KD's, then go feel the PS2...you won't believe how soft they are. There's nothing worse than the feeling of a soft sidewall when you're in the twisties at high speeds.

Default Re: Anyone else disappointed with Michelin PS2?

I've run the SO3's and the PS2's on my S4 for sport driving and track days. I run 225X40X18 and up the stock cold pressure by 3-4 pounds for track events. The PS2's do have a softer sidewall and do get scuffed but they are sticky and have a much better ride and are less noisey than the SO's. I'm sticking with the PS's

Default Not sure if it's available for the 17", but you might go with a higher load-rating

Running 245/40/18 PS2s. My 93Y's seemed to roll a bit on me. Switched to the XL rating 97Y, and no issues at all. On my third set, and that's on a HEAVY A6 2.7T.
