Default Anyone have a drivetrain or suspension groaning?

I get it going over small bumps at low speeds, it's this groaning coming from under the car. It lasts for a couple of seconds. Happens a lot when the steering is turned but also when going straight.

Default Groaning from the drivetrain while making sharp turns is normal for quattro.

Over bumps is something else... no suggestion.

If the groan varies with while you move the steering wheel you may be low on power steering fluid.

Default For example, I get it when I go up and down my driveway...

Right when a set of wheels comes off the very short curb at the end of the driveway.

Default You might be hearing the ABS/ESP system "recharge"....

I'm not sure if this is normal but whenever I go over sharp bumps or potholes I can feel the ABS system momentarily engage. I'm guessing this is probably the ESP system trying to compensate for the difference in wheel spin rate caused by the bump. If I'm on the brakes when this happens I notice a "groan" which sounds like a recharge pump or something once I let off the brakes. The curious thing is that I can be at a stoplight for minutes in length after hitting the bump and then when I let off the brake the system makes this sound. Very odd delay.

Default I think you might be right about this...

Does it mean the ABS sensor or pump is faulty? Does it need to be repaired?

I'm getting a groaning/rubbing from my rear driver wheel... i'm not sure if its my wheel bearing going out... it only makes the noise when im turning right... it could be (my assumption) either a bad shock or bad bearing... i'm not sure... any ideas?
Thanks,
Ryker

Default A bad bearing would be audible under all conditions and would be louder/higher pitched at speed...

so if your problem is only when turning I doubt it's a wheel bearing. Check visually to make sure nothing is rubbing back there.

Default

I assumed this was normal operation of the AWD system so I haven't done anything.

Mine does the same thing. Hondas with ABS do a self check after startup when you first start rolling, I assume its the same thing.
