Default Anyone have a problem with the aftermarket exhaust melting the rear skirt housing?

I just installed my magnaflow 3" catback yesterday and today after a long hard canyon run at the So Cal event I noticed that it melted the paint and plastic on my rear skirt.

The muffler tip got so hot, that I guess it melted it off! Is this a defect of the muffler? Or do I have to cut the lip some so it doesnt get so close?

The muffler is a polished stainless steel 3" in and 2 2 1/2" out, with stainless steel tips. I have about 1 cm of clearance on each side of the tips! So they are very tight.
