I just bought a 2001.5 and I'm thinking about chipping it... I'm hesitating b/c of worries over tranny.

If anyone has a chipped S4 near Baltimore and is willing to give me a ride, I would appreciate it!

yeah i live in gaithersburg, if i were you i would worry about turbos blowing before the tranny

Yeah I already bought an extended warranty for the turbos. If I were to chip it, I would buy another ECU and swap it out before sending to a service dept.

I was just confused over the 1-2 shift under heavy acceleration. I already STFA, and it looks like I need to just slow down the shift a little bit because of the wide spacing between 1st and 2nd.

Anyway, I still want to ride in one and feel the difference.

When I chipped my car I thought it was insane. I don't think you should be worried about the transmission. I have been chipped for about 9k miles. Blew a turbo about 7k after being chipped. Replaced under warranty. The only problem I have ever had tranny related is the grinding gears from 2nd to 3rd at full throttle. When you get a ride in a chipped car you will deffinatly want a chip.
