whatever the consensus, i have to replace my powder hounds
two friends had theirs fail (independantly) last season, each losing >$1k in equipment due to damage.
you would be suprised how well sintered bases slide on asphalt at >80mph

Yakima feet and bars with RockyMounts

Not best quality picture, but "racks is racks". Work great - have used Yakima on various vehicles over the years, and have always been satisfied. These have also passed the 100mph test with bikes on the rack.
If you plan to leave the bars on the car, get a fairing so your sunroof is still fairly usable. As the car is usually a clean black, I don't keep the racks on longer than I need to (to avoid scratching).

Hey! That's my car!...
It's a Thule rack with two bike mounts. I don't have a fairing on it because I felt it made the wind noise worse. I have the bike mounts near the outside so it's easier to lift the bikes on and also because I put ski racks in the middle during the winter. I could spend more time making it look nicer (color matching the mounts, better placement, etc.) but I could care less. I'm more into performance than looks. If your bike has disc brakes then make sure you get the correct mount to accomodate that extra clearance.

I've seen both brands and they both fit fine. Can't really say which one fits better...they both
fit very nicely. I say it's all a matter of whether you prefer Yakima or Thule.
