Default anything I can do to replace aftermarket parts?

I just brought my 2001 s4 in for 40k maintenance.(it was running perfectly fine) As soon as I drove it off the lot it started to make a weird noise like something wasn't hooked up right. I would have taken it back, but the were closed and waiting for me to begin with. I was going to bring it back in the morning, but didn't make it. there was a lot of smoke & my oil light went on. I had it towed back to the dealership & they said that one of the turbos blew. They replaced the turbos & catalytic converter free under warranty, but failed to tell me of any more damage. When I picked up the car, they told me they replaced the exhaust system with the audi stock exhaust. I had an aftermarket exhaust which was full of oil so without asking they replaced it with a stock exhaust. They also said that the exhaust did not cause the turbo to blow. They will not compensate me or replace the aftermarket exhaust. they only offered to put the old one back on.Is there anything I can do or do I need to suck it up?

Oil really won't damage the exhaust (only the cats/O2's). You can probably clean it out.

Default Why should they compensate you? They offered to put the old one back on, what more do you want them

to do?

Default Because they said that the old one is no good

I was considering having them put back the old one, but I didn't know if it would cause any more damage- they said that it would smoke alot and possibly ruin other things. Do turbos just blow or is there something that they might have done while working on the car?

Default I think it great that they did not hassle you for the exhaust.

Get the after market exhaust back from them, and contact the manufacturer and ask them about the oil. They may be able to advise you if it can be used again relaibly. If not, there are several used ones for sale.

Good luck!

Default They only need to repair the stock parts that are on the car, and having oil in the exhaust isn't

going to hurt anything. It will smoke for a while while the oil burns off. Also, yes, turbos can just blow.

Default Thanks, I know it's a grey area with voided warranties and all...

I was really just wanting to know if I could do something, that's all-I wasn't really bitching at audi. The only thing is that they replaced it without letting me know or authorizing the work to be done. Plus they were asking me if I would really notice the difference in exhausts or if I raced the car. I just don't like being treated like I am an idiot & I think they take advantage if you are a woman.

Default OMGHi2U:)

mpwolf is right, i would just get the exhaust back - stand it upright in your garage for a week or so, then put it back on.
