Apologies....but I need to ask......
So....I get my new S4 on Friday morning!!!!
Now, I know we've all been through this a bunch of times, but I wanted to know - since I went through break-in almost 1 year ago - what do people think is a conservative break-in regiment for the car?
What are the big don't in the first few hundred - few thousand miles?
What's the best cruising speed for the car? Under 2,500 RPM's but above 1,800 RPM's?
Thanks everyone......I'll take lots and lots of pictures on Friday!

Common rule of thumb, and as stated in the manual ...
Under 4K RPM for the first 1,000 miles.
The owner's manual actually breaks it down a bit more, stating you should stay under 4K RPMs AND 75% of the speedo for the first 600 miles, then conservative use over the remaining 400 miles. A couple other points ... Vary engine load and don't drive too many consecutive miles, or for too long, at constant [engine] speed.
After that it's WOT in an attempt to bust the turbos! : )

And be religious about warmups and cooldowns...
...no matter what you do after that, you should be strict about those for the first thousand miles. By warmup, I mean drive the car very gently, like under 2500 rpms if possible...not idle, as that won't get the oil circulating properly. It's going to kill you to do it, especially since it takes forever for the oil temperature to hit 175 if you're driving that gently, but it's a good idea. Now that I've got a few thousand miles on it, I feel like I'm being gentle enough on warmup by avoiding WOT and keeping the revs under 4k, but I'd be more stringent while breaking it in.
And no heavy throttle input, no matter what the rpms are...you don't want to lug the engine at this stage.
Towards the end of the break-in period, you can start to be a little more free with it, letting the rpms climb a little high on occasion, and letting your foot get heavy every so often, but always make sure you've warmed it up properly first.
I wouldn't even tell people you have the car yet, as the temptation to give rides and show off its capabilities gets really difficult to resist.

I drove to visit my sister 300 miles away... Alternating the gear from 4-6 around 2-4.5k RPM
I think having the car under load in different angine speeds helps. I was not patient enough, my break in ended the first week with 1k miles )
I would suggest you check your oil level closely the first 3k miles as with my car I had to add 1.5 quarts until the first service @ 5k miles! Also try to be easy on the clutch, breaks etc...
What is your color combo?
