Default argggg. Help. ATTN. any bright color car owners...or anyone with panel repaint experience...

A little while back my car was keyed. Drivers side door.
To make a long story short, I went to get an estimate at a local shop that has done great work on previous cars of mine.
HOWEVER...
he said that nearly the entire side of the car will have to be painted to match the drivers side door. i.e. front 3/4, driver side passenger etc...
Now, who has had experiences with paint matching nogaro/laser red/imola etc...?
I will be getting the written estimate faxed to me later today/tomorow. How much have people paid for scratches etc on one panel?

Am I fuxored or should i get a really fine detail brush and touch up paint and do this **** myself?
Thanks guys
Keegan

p.s. I will take some pictures later today and post them under this link. Also, yes, the scratch is to the metal and is not possible to be buffed.
thanks and i stfa on prices already

Default I'm getting the driver's side painted on mine too....not looking forward to it...although

I'm silver, so maybe it won't be too bad.

Default Yeah, they will have to "blend" the panel which basically means painting the adjacent panels to

match. Time consuming, costly and rarely looks oem. Depends how bad the scratch is I guess.

Default its pretty bad. but only 1 line. the thing is though that is on the DRIVER door, such a sore spot

i really dont think its worth the money if they are really going to repaint the practically the entire side of the car. f-that. i would rather spend the $1k on more useful things and touch it up myself.

No worries. They'll do the door, 1/2 the fender, & 1/2 the rear door. You'll never know it.

Default A good body shop will get the paint perfect. However, repaints tend to chip easily.

Just be prepared for that. It really sucks...
