ARRRRGH.....USAA can bite me.....
[vent]
Brought the S in to Wagon Works a week ago for repair of a scrape and dent to the rear quarter panel. Of course, nothing is cheap on these cars, so after the initial appraisal was a measly lowball $730 (a whole $230 over my deductible), the body shop now needs a reinspection and authorization to do another $8-900 of work. Shop calls USAA last Wednesday; they say it will be 2-3 days before an appraiser gets there.
So today--5 days later--the #$@*'ing appraiser finally calls them back to say it will be another 7-10 days before he can get out there. Dammit, I could physically PUSH the car from Wagon Works to the USAA offices in Reston in a couple of hours. And....no, I do NOT want a freakin' rental, I just want the appraiser to go look at my car. What's so hard about that?! I need the repairs DONE before christmas so I can drive home for the holidays.
I've had my auto policy with USAA for like 12 years, and made a grand total of 2 (very small) claims on it during that time. Why is it like pulling teeth to get anything done with them?! (Had similar problems with a claim on my homeowners' policy last year.) This sucks....maybe it's time to find a new carrier.

I've had nothing but spectacular experiences with USAA...
...and the last time I took my A4 into the bodyshop the dealer's bodyshop was an authorized repair center/estimator...so it was very easy.

Sorry about that - never had them as a carrier, but they are the best bank in the country
They pay me to have a checking account there. And their loan department is awesome. Maybe their insurance side sucks eggs. State Farm has always been good. USAA won't insure me, they're freaky weird like Geiko.

That's what's weird....
I know that Wagon Works has done a ton of work with USAA in the past, and that USAA has always agreed to pay their labor rates (though they probably disagree with some of the assessments of work to be done).
I don't know why they've had a sudden lapse in customer service here--there have been no natural disasters or other insurance-intensive catastrophes in the area recently that would suddenly push everyone schedule back 2 weeks. Maybe I've got a lazy adjuster, or maybe there's just an unforeseen holiday rush. I really don't care; I just want my car fixed...because it's all about ME. =P

A couple of things to keep in mind...
USAA contracts out with adjustors, they do not usually own them. If this one is a problem, call USAA directly and request that another adjustor view your car. They are usually very good about this sort of thing.
