Hey, it could be worse, it could have been an AWE flywheel.

Default as a lwfw victim, i may be totally wrong, but my understanding is that speed sensor is the...

brown metal piece with the squares cut out of it that goes around the flywheel

what happened to me was that too much play developed with this speed sensor piece because the dowel pins fell out - under twisty track conditions the cars speed sensor would lose contact with the (brown steel speed sensor with squares cut out) • this would cause the car to violently stall

for all you track guys, try to imagine this happening on a 100mph downhill negative camber turn where off gas lift over steer results in immediate 360s

Default yeah, what were 'dowel pins' on your lwfw were allen bolts on mine... one ripped out.

And this was in a 2-mile test drive, being totally babied because it's not yet broken in (new clutch).

As I said, I'm sure ECS will make good on it... but I hope that whatever mfg. process caused this weakness gets addressed.

Default why worse? Seems like a disintegrating flywheel is bad regardless.

From what I heard, AWE has corrected their flywheel flaw. I was going to go with AWE (since I was getting other stuff from them) but they were out of stock, so I went with ECS (who seem to be a great bunch of folks, and people have reported good luck with their flywheels).

Gotcha. I wasn't positive my explanation was right. Thanks for the correction

As in...obvious impact marks in the aluminum casting that shrouds the starter.

Default That sucks. I am waiting patiently behind you - could you get your car out of there already ;-)

I would be curious how many hours your install took. Shoot me an email privately if you don't mind letting me know.

Good luck.

Default heh... I want my car back, too!

I don't know how many hours yet, since he hasn't written me up the full invoice since the car isn't done. I'll let you know once he does though.
