Auto-X'ing a S4
Hey guys,
Just wondering how many people Auot-X their S4's. I use to do a lot of Auto-x 15 years ago with a well prepared '85 MR2 (I actually did pretty well), but when that got taken out by a Swedish Au Pair I entered the Audi world and for a number of reasons got away from Auto-x. Thinking about getting back into it for the next season. Looks like the SCCA puts the B5 S4 is D-stock and I am wondering how competitive the S4 is in D-stock. Anyone have any Auto-X eperiences, and would you chime in with your thoughts.
Cheers,
Jim

I used to do more than I do now, hope to get back to in in a little while.
The S4 stock falls into D stock which also runs against the WRX, 330 bmw etc... I always found it pretty competive there on a local level (top 3 in class) and I even did pretty well in PAX times (top 5-10) overall. Not much you can do in stock, you can put r compound tires on that are DOT approved, cat-back exhaust, front swaybar, and you can change shocks but not springs. It is big and heavy but can be very quick if driven well.
Good luck and have fun!

I've autocrossed mine for the past 3 years.
I run in STU because of the springs and rear swaybar, plus I don't want to change tires twice on every event day.
Won a set of tires last year for being the fastest car on street tires for the year.
Email me, if you want to talk more.

I use to autox my S4 in C-Street Prepared..and Street Modified. I was able to muster 3rd place in CSP in the very popular Golden Gate / SF Region... but I wasnt that competitive in Street Mod..mainly because I was around when Corey Smith was campaigning THWAP. Do a search on AW for Corey and THWAP and you will see why. Corey won the pro solo NATIONALS in 2001 (I think) in Sharon's S4 (Street Modified class)
This is a pic of me back in 2000.

Sweet Baby Jesus......Holy batmobile
Ummm....I think I would be divorsed if the better half came home and found the S4 looking like that ;-). How about DS, looking at what else is in DS it looks like a S4 would not fair so well.
Chers,
