Just don't be stupid and you'll be fine. Take every bit of ego you have about being a good driver a
leave it at home. Drive within your limits, and realize those limits are pretty low when you start out. After a 15 days on the track last year, I still suck.

Mistakes happen. If you're not at least pushing your comfort zone a bit you'll
end up learning nothing. But yeah being overly aggressive is stupid and risks everyone's car not just your own.
