Default Bad Synchros?

Horrible grind from 1st to 2nd gear, Clutch is fully engaged. Mostly only when the car is reved past 4,500 RPM. Anyone have experience?

Those I have consulted, have suggested the topic.

Default Re: Bad Synchros?

I have had some occasional syncro problems in a couple situations:

1) Trying to shift into reverse from a standstill. Sometimes it simply won't go in. I have to shift between neutral and (trying to get it into) reverse several times gently before it with go in...with the clutch completely in. Quite frustrating indeed.

2) Shifting from 1st to 2nd sometimes results in a grind and a mis-shift (i throw it up into third instead). And once again, the clutch is completely in.

Solutions:

1) Could the UUC shortshifter possibly correct these issues? Is it merely a shifter problem, or is it more deeply rooted within the syncromesh?

2) (And my favorite solution) Rip out the current gearbox and throw in a Quaife sequential 6-speed transmission. For a mere $15,095, you can shift like a rally or F1 racer!

Gotta love racing dog engagement tranny's...<p>Adam

Default the UUC shifter helps, but....

it doesn't get rid of the reverse or 1-2 shift problem.
I've got a UUC shifter in mine and still have problems, every once in a while, shifting into reverse.
The 1-2 shift has gotten better, but I can still feel the notchiness when trying to shift to second.

I'm thinking of going to the dealer to have them try to adjust the shifter to get everything smoothed out. If it doesn't smooth out, I guess they'll have to dig into it a little deeper.
