Bah. Update on my short sport antenna.
Apparently, the GPS antenna on my car has a larger diameter screw, which this sport antenna lacks. So, while the sport antenna goes into the hole, there's no screwing action (hehe).
On the upside, it looks like the screw onthe antenna can be removed, and it seems there is a possiblity of re-tapping it for a larger screw.
But here's the comparo pictures.

Hmmm.....
The Parts Department web site gives the following warning:

*Note that the aerial base thread size can be different in some countries.
The set screw in the aerial mast will need to be removed (unwound with allen key) with a new thread tapped, and suitable screw inserted as the US Allroad above.

do you know what the thread size is?
Yes, I can remove the set screw with the allen as they indicated. So I figured on that. I just need to tap the antenna and I'm good to go.
Why the hell do they use different threads. Hurrumph.

The antenna from CFI Motorsports fits the allroad w/ no problems. (thread size inside)
The Euro screw size is M5 and the US allroads have an M6. CFI sells the M6 size so you don't have to do the custom work that some have done. The first pioneers of the short antenna bought them from Euro dealers. Cost on the antenna from CFI was $25 + shipping.

https://forums.audiworld.com/allroad/msgs/4662.phtml</a
