Before I go and order a CF hood from APR (unvented) are there any others I should look at?

Default Before I go and order a CF hood from APR (unvented) are there any others I should look at?

I've seen one design that is from fiber images, and I'm not sure if I really like it...

The vortrag would be great if I could get my hands on it, but it's no longer made...

APR uses stock mounting points and utilizes the stock hood latch (no pins required), so I'm thinking that this is the way to go... unless there's something else out there that I'm not finding.

Has anyone had a custom hood made? How much would something like that run me?

TIA

Default I would still go with hood pins if I got the APR hood. I wouldn't trust the stock latch with a hood

that light.

Default It's just light and without the weight of the hood to keep it down, people have had the hood pop up

at high speed. There were a couple of posts a while back about this.

Default In addition to what matt said below...

Two solid anchoring points on the outboard edges are more stable than one dead center. At speeds in excess of 100 mph, and lightweight hood will want to lift up...trust us, hood pins are your friends!

Default I didn't realize they sold that one too.

There's nothing mentioned on their website as to who makes it.

But the Fiber Images is known to be one of the nicest ones.

http://www.goapr.com/Audi/products/carbon_hood.html</a
