Best chip with 94 octane?
Hey everyone,
I just bought a 2001.5 Cactus Green S4 with the 6spd. Sharp car! Naturally what I'd like to do first is chip her. Which chip out there would be the best choice for Ultra 94 octane? I know some chips out there, specifically the GIAC, boast that they run great on 91 octane. Does this mean someone running 91 octane would get the same results as someone running 94 octane because the chip is calibrated for only 91? I definitely want a chip that would take advantage of the Ultra 94.
And lastly, is there GIAC software out there that lets you easily switch or "flip" between X and XR programs?
Thanks guys for any ideas!

all chips will run well on 94 octane. Nice color choice, but then I'm a bit biased
I also have a 2001 "M" GIAC X chip for sale with ECU (newest revision of GIAC software) for $850.00. Currently the IBE (switchable) is not out yet, but you can always just swap the EEPROM inside to get the XR (for those rare occasions that you are running 100 octane)..

I really like this color green, but I must confess the real reason I got it is because this color has to be the most subtle color the S4 comes in. I love sleepers. :-)
How long ago did you buy the GIAC X ECU? Was the ECU purchased new or was it one that came off a used S4? Lastly, why are you selling it?
Thanks.

I got the APR chip and I love it. I can easily switch, and it ran 13.1 (first time out) its got 12's in it. All I have is exhast and chip. I like the APR chip, the GIAC is also good. I just didn't want to wait for teh chipswitch/GIAC. Plus its going to be really expensive. I would go for a ride in the S4 with both chips and then decide.

APR
Did you run 13.1 on race gas or pump gas? What other mods?
I've sort of ruled out APR already because of what I've seen and read. It seems like the race program is pretty kickass, but the street gets beat hands down by ABT, MTM, GIAC, etc.
I'm thinking of getting the GIAC, ABT, and MTM and trying them all out at the dragstrip on Ultra 94. How long does it take to swap out the entire ECU?
Thanks.

Takes a commercial to swap them out, however if your doing it back to back
Like I did on my dyno runs then it takes about 1 minute, since you will most likely have most of the stuff apart anyways.
Also, not that it matters
The ECU was new when it was purchased from AWE, I am the second owner however as I bought it purely for Dyno tests.
It's solid state, there is no wear and tear on an ECU, that is why I stated "not that it matters" and I had a local GIAC reseller down here upgrade to the latest revision.
Cactus is one of the rarest S4 colors, next to Hibiscus (love them both), a clean cactus is a damn nice looking car.
Selling it as again, I purchased only to have real results, since I'm anti-hype!

Re: APR
Race with full everything, and about 200 pounds of **** in the car. It moves, on the street its not bad at all, I smoked a S2000 yesterday (same **** in the trunk) by 5 cars to 100. So take it for my expierence, but I am not the authority. Mabye I got a strong motor, I got a vr and a strong motor really matters there. I would go GIAC in about 4 months, but hey what do I know? hmmmmm
