I prefer Mobil 1.

2000 S4 Owners Manual recommends 5w40 or 5w30 if you can't find 5w40.

0w40. FWIW, I had lifter ticking with 5w30 at the track this summer on my '00.

Default 0W-40 didn't exist in US at time of printing the 2000 manual. That recommendation is now OBSOLETE...
See the 2001 S4 manual for the updated Audi recommendation.

<b>0W</B>-based motor oil is now Audi's first recommendation.

It's called <B>progress</b>.
