Big Problems...ABS, ESP, CEL Lights All On...
My 2001 Automics Trans S4's ABS, ESP and CEL lights all came on at the same time today randomly. I had my pads and rotors recently replaced but car has been running fine since.
Now when all those lights are on, the center LCD display on the dashwhere the gear numbers should be is blank. When I shift the car into any gear there is a loud "clank". The car will reverse, but when I put it in drive its like its in neutral there is no power. It's almost like the car doesn't know its in gear.
Car has been towed to my audi dealer and they will be checking it out by Tuesday. Any ideas???

Your in limp-limp mode. Meaning that your TCU is probably bad and it is not
communication AT ALL with your ECU.
So your car thinks that it is a 6 speed.
When you shift into gear it is abrupt becasue again your car is not expecting it.
The loss of power is because you only have 4th gear for forward movement which is the default limp mode gear.
I hope it is something simple, but have you had any water in the passenger side recently?
The TCU is below the front passengers feet in a "sealed" box

Do you have vag-com? If so see if you can connect to your TCU.
If you want you can also pull up the passenger side carpet after putting the seat back the whole way. You will see a black box, check and see if there is any water in there.
