Default Bionic, do you have any more pictures of your install of the V1??

looks very intresting and a very good way to twart thieves. i would not even think that its a V1 after looking at the audi center cap. do you also have pics of where you put your remote unit and audio unit? and also how did you wire the v1 from the back?

Very nice install

Default Yep, but not many...

These three are similar to the ones posted before.
You see the remote visual in the corner of the A-pillar. I will post a close up of it. The little **** in front of the shifter is the volume control, the tiny hole next to it is the speaker. I was hoping to make something more fancy, but I ran out of duct tape. The bottom shot is the view out the review... Chicago skyline in background... Read next post for more shots and more detail.

Default Close up of remote visual display...

I got the old style display from Valentine. The unit was designed to sit on top of a cig-lighter plug. Well, remove the plug, and discard it. Wire + and - lines to it, and into the ever popular fuse 27. Run wire along side of the dash to the unit.
Run phone line back down side of dash, tuck under dash, and run to the shifter cover plate. Drill holes in the shifter cover plate for the Vol/power **** and speaker. Using superglue (or some variant thereof) afix the remote audio unit to the underside of the shift access panel cover. I centered mine, but would probably do it off center if I had to try again.
Run the phone cord from that back under the dash and glove box, tuck under trim along carpet edge, along door sills, up side of back seat, into trunk. Drill a small hole to allow the phone cord to the unit.
The V1 itself is in a CD case, wrapped in speaker grill cloth from RadioShack. I cut a small 1" sq hole for the rear sensor, and a wide 1.5"x3" hole for the front sensor. The wheel center cap was a later addition.
Most people think it is a GPS receiver or something. I don't care what they think it is, as long as they think it is something proprietary Audi, and not the greatest Radar Detector in the Known Universe....
I hope this helps...

Is forward radar sensitivity affected due to placement of detector?

Default you are in chicago? So am i!

which dealer did you buy from? I was thinking about McGraths in Glenview. but from what i heard, modifications are a no no. I'm still torn over which car im going to purchase, the bmw 330xi or the s4. the 300xi is going to be lighter on my wallet but the s4 has more performance. decisions decisions. but what ever car i decide to purchase, i will probably mount the V1 in the same manner that you have

Default I actually got it from Sud's in Normal...

As for mods, if it doesn't cause the car to break, McGrath doesn't care. They know I'm chipped. As long as I don't put holes from the pistons in the hood...

I haven't tested head to head, but so far, it doesn't appear so at all
