Default Brake rotor questions

Looking at these pictures what is the reason my pedal now pulsates dramatically during braking?

Are these small embossed rings around the rotor brake pad material deposits?

If it is pad material what should I do to correct the violent shuddering I'm experiencing during braking?

Default Rotor looks burnt, in those images. Grooves are normal, but if you overheated the rotor

on a very hard brake, you may have softened the rotor metal on part, but not all, of the rotor. That would make the brakes "pulse"

Default Could be rotor or pads...

You can't tell from looking at the rotor whether its warped or not. From experience I've found that the rotor rarely actually warps and it is typically pad deposit causing the vibration. Just going to performance pads typically fixes the problem.

Default overheating possible

As I tracked the car 2 days this year. Just curious if the sensation I'm feeling is due to pad material or warpage. I know a lot of people in the archives have claimed to warp the stock rotors after a track day yet the other side of the fence seems to argue it could just be uneven brake pad material deposits.

Any litmus test on pad material versus warpage?

Default Yeah figured...

Any suggestion on what brand of pad is aggressive enough to test the pad material theory?

Default That dark "streak" in about the middle of the rotor surface is what looks wrong to me.

I would think the rotor needs replacement, but perhaps others here have experience with other solutions.

Default I know this sounds obvious, but it could be the rotor on the other side that has a problem.

Or the other side of the rotor pictured. IMO the picture you have only tells about one quarter of the front rotor surfaces.

Default I had the same problem - if you noticed it after replacing wheels - you may need to retorque...

your wheel bolts, in my case the shuddering has almost gone away after retorqing - to completely eliminate the problem I am going to replace the pads, and if its still there I'll get new rotors...
