Brake Service: new(er) AoA Service Circular re: Revised Brake Warranty guidelines...
This defines the revised AoA warranty reimbursement policy to dealers (in other words these are the guidelines they will use to reimburse the dealer for warranty work done on brake components). It's interesting, but not all dealers are following this - my dealer would not replace rear brakes today even though the pads were all 5mm or less (they claimed they only replace when 2mm or less). Oh, well. With my new attitude, I apologized for bringing my car in when no action was "warranted" and thanked them for letting me break in a brand new (14 miles on the clock) Buick LeSabre for Enterprise. [Damn, those GM OEM brake pads sure stink when they're new...and really HOT! I think they are now considered bedded-in.] If you have to ask how it drives, then you really shouldn't be in an Audi.
I guess I will have to wait until the backing plate metal contacts the ridge on the rear rotors as the face of my rotors have worn down about 1.5mm on each face (based on my micrometer). I guess the official Audi issued mic says my rotors have plenty of meat left.
Just curious if anyone else has any experience with this new policy???<ul><li><a href="http://gates-home.com/jim/Audi/AoA_brake_coverage.pdf">Brake Service Circular (from A6 forum)</a></li></ul>
