Default Calling all Custom Car Audio Installs, I need help.

Ok, here is the dilemma; I want to do either a XM or Sirius Satellite Radio setup.
What I'm being told is the only unit that I can use with the 2001 A6 head unit is the Alpine XM with a customer adapter that connects to the AUX/CD changer input. The problem with this setup is I wanted to use the Delphi XM unit. The reason I was given on the Alpine is that the installers have had a lot of problems with the FM modulators with the power antennas in the Audis. So anyone who has taken this on please give me your feedback, I'm not opposed to replacing the head unit all together, but I'm concerned with the double din setup that Audi uses and the esthetics problems that would cause.

Semper FI!!!

Default FM modulaters suck. That is all I have.

back in the day, It was a major selling point to customers that you should spend the money to not use an FM modulater.

Default I use the Pioneer modulated unit.

The sound quality is fine for me, but I've never heard what "true digital" sounds like. The only issue I have is decreased (okay, it's sh!tty) radio reception. But, I don't really listen to local radio anymore, so I don't care.
Steve 4X4 put a pretty nifty system in that would probably control XM as well. Do a search for him and look at his poster.

FM modulators are fine for XM -- its sound quality isn't that high anyway...

FYI -- the Delphi XM modulator works absolutely fine in Audis. I've had it for months.
