Can the aluminum beltline trim be replaced with the grey, birdseye maple trim easily?
#3
It can be replaced, but I don't think the word "easily" should be used.
It requires removing all door panels and some dash components. If you know somebody who has done it before, they will be your best bet in completing this mod.
BTW, you can sell the Alum. Trim for $$$$.

Do you think the dealer could order the parts? Has anyone had success doing this?
I've searched around on here but I'm still kinda foggy about if they will or won't...need to stop puffing the magic dragon

Someone here has done it before.... i think you can order through some dealers and you can
even have them install is (for a price). Also, call clair parts, they can also get it for you (clair is also a dealer btw), and you can DIY if you want to. HOWEVER, i'm sure many people would be HAPPY to swap as the aluminum seems popular and few have it. This may be your best bet as the birdseye trim ain't cheap, and you may be saving some one a couple hunderd bucks (price of all the aluminum pieces) and save yourself about a grand...

i have this set up. traded the Aluminium with uzanak....
<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/2324/interior.jpg"></center><p>this isn't easy of fun swap.
the door panels are not too bad. but time consuming. the peice to the left of the steering wheel isn't too bad.. the lower panel comes out with three bolts. the part over the glove box is kind of a pain.. but the center piece.. the whole radio, console and center dash has to come out or you risk breaking the plastic studs the metal caps go on. and, gettin the new peice properly installed is impossible unless the center dash is removed.
we had a tech at teh Audi store Ken worked at last year help us.. er.. do most of the work. (plus, he had the radioe removal tool!)
i REALLY like the look when it's done!!

Hey...I'll email you tomorrow morning to let you know whats up...
I got a dealer in Ohio working with me already...I think things will go smooth from here on out. I'm thinking of getting the sport package now with my local dealer (the only car they could find)...I like the chrome mirrors and I'm starting to like the Alcantara, two tone seats. The only thing I do not like is the aluminum trim...looks very chinsy and cheap to me. Anyways, tomorrow hopefully the dealer in town will do a swap on the pieces for free after all this...we'll see. If they decide to not work with me then I'll buy the car through the guy in Ohio...he's really nice and knowledgeable.
Thank you though for your help, I appreciate it
