Just wondering if paint thinner is too strong for the Y pipe. I screwed up the paint job on it and have been meaning to take it off and have another go at it!

I'd say just sand it smooth, prime and repaint.

start with 150 to clear it away, then 220, then 400 to make it smooth ... or keep going to 2000grit

In a small ammount, it wont melt it but sanding is for sure. Use Fusion paint ment for plastic too.

Paint doesn't stick very well to anything over 400 grit. Read the can.
