Can someone tell me wtf a brake switch is?
My GF's 2003 Jetta 1.8t Tip is at the dealership for overheating and transmission problems. The dealer just called back and said that they need to replace the waterpump (car only has 17k miles!!!) and the brake switch? (maybe break switch) They said that was the reason that third gear wasn't grabbing properly. I've never heard of a brake switch before tho? Im trying to find out if they are just replacing as little as they can instead of dealing with the transmisson. Should i have them check anything else? TIA

dunno wtf they're talking about...but...
there's a switch for your brake pedal, usually at the top of the arm, that, after a certain pedal throw, switches to light up the brake lights, send a signal to the abs module, etc.
