Can the UUC shifter (or any aftermarket shifter) cause transmission problems?
I just installed the UUC shifter in my car this past weekend and while I am happy with it, I have this nagging thought in the back of my mind that this could cause transmission problems. Or maybe not cause them but if I were to have transmission problems (which has happened to others here) is it likely that the dealer might try and blame it on the aftermarket shifter? I am familiar with the various claims and positions surrounding aftermarket mods and warranty work but the answer always seems to come from two things: 1. the particular dealer you are dealing with and 2. the likelihood that the problem is caused by the mod(s). I can do something about the first one but I don't know enough about the second with regards to the shifter.
Given the expense of replacing a transmission on this car this could potentially be an expensive problem. Any thoughts or comments? (other than I should have thought of this BEFORE I did the install )

very unlikely
I hate to say anything's impossible, since someone will prove me wrong.
But the shifter is just a more accurate way of moving the gears into alignment. I might argue that damage is more likely from a missed shift with the original unit.
Note - my car's stock :-)

If you adjust it poorly such that it is difficult to shift into 1st or second, then...
I would expect some sort of abnormal wear. This is just my opinion, and I don't have solid knowledge on which to base this, but to me it just seems natural. Note that this isn't a problem that is unique to the UUC shifter, because the stock shifter can also be poorly adjusted. However, the change to the geometry has the effect of shrinking the tolerance and thus making the adjustment more critical. I adjusted mine very carefully, and I do not anticipate any abnormal wear, because it goes into 1st, 2nd, and reverse just as easily as it goes into the other gears.
