Default Can you shift into 1st @ 10mph (stick)

My car often grinds the gears if I try to shift into 1st at a slow roll (5-10mph). I have never driven a stick that had this problem.

Is this a quirk of the Audi 6speed, or are my syncros not doing their job?

Thanks!

Default there is absolutely NO reason to ever shift into 1st gear when car is rolling

unless you have no brakes, that is.

why people even attempt this is beyond me.

Default i've never had a VAG car that would easily go into 1st while moving.

dunno what it is.

i agree you shouldn't be shifting into first while moving. but sometimes i want it to at least be IN gear so when the light goes i can go. otherwise sometimes i have to put it in second and labor away from the light/stop.

changing the tranny fluid might help. mine works better warm.

I can. I've been told at 5-10 mph it is better to shift into 1st than 2nd. Easier on the synchro's.
