can't finish stage 3 install this weekend as planned
The AWE LWFW is not drilled exact enough to get the crank bolts installed. I've been out there for an hour messing around and praying it would somehow fit. I figured I'd install the stock flywheel instead. I can rotate the surface of the stock flywheel about 10 degrees, separate from the center section with the bolt holes. Is that normal?
thanks

Here's pics of the stock flywheel rotation
As far as I can tell, this rotation isn't normal.

Here's a pic after I rotated the outer half as much as it would move.

You may laugh at this, but did you try aligning the holes many
different ways. I had the same problem when putting mine in. Well Audi staggers some holes in the crank so the flywheel can only be put on one certain way. So make sure you try it. I thought mine was drilled wrong to, and it was fine.

this car is twice as tight as anything I've ever worked on..
I'm not sure what I was thinking when I said I would probably finish in one weekend. I have the new turbos on but can't connect the trans until I figure something out on the flywheel.

Oh crap.. maybe because of the timing notches on the flywheel?
If one of the timing squares is TDC, it would need to be installed in one position. In that case, why didn't they use an alignment pin. I guess I'll check the bentley.
thanks

If your car is in tdc the window in the lwfw should be in about the 10 position. At least
thats where mine was on my ECS lwfw. But I would assume it would be the same. Then the holes will align. Good luck

thanks alot
I took my 6" dial caliper and figured out the TDC holes are slightly farther apart. I stuck it on and BAM.. it fit. I take back any misdirected cuss words for the hour I messed with AWE's flywheel!
thanks again

say the hell with it, either take an extended break or come back in the am, and you resolve your issue within 15 minutes... But that's why we get greasy aint it! <spat!!> {{PTang!!!}}
