chipping
I have a 2001 S4 and was told that nop matter what chip I want to put into my car it has a very good chance of overloading and blowing the turbos. Has this happened to any of you or what have your experiences with this been?

Wrong. I have one with 24000 miles and have had no problems with my car ...
at all. I don't drive my car like I stole it either. But I get on it every now and then.

just to clarify...
a lot of people = ~20 out of thousands.
No doubt those 20 drove like goons (well with the exception of Pete's lemon car, which doesn't count due to the fact that it was a LEMON)

it seems to me
that the turbos that are going to blow are going to blow, and that it doesn't have much to do with whether or not they're chipped.
But if you're chipped and it blows, it might be harder to get Audi to replace it on their dime.

There are more important factors when it comes to turbo reliability.
From much of what I've read regarding turbos, the long-term reliability is much more affected by your warm-up/cool-down practices, driving style, and oil quality and oil change habits.
I think if you chip your car, drive it sensibly and take good care of it, your turbo reliability shoots upwards.
This is just my opinion.
