Clutch pedal switch troubleshooting. Switch tested out OK, but car not acknowledging switch
Went to start my car this morning and it says "depress clutch to start car" even with the clutch depressed. I manually actuate both switches (white plunger and smaller black switch) with no results. 2nd variable in Block 066 in VAG com reads 1000 with clutch out, 1100 with clutch in. 4th variable reads 0011 regardless of clutch position. I removed the black switch (I think this is the right one...what a fvcking PITA to get out) and tested it...works fine. VAG-COM reads 11.2V from the battery, so I think that is sufficient.
Ideas?
Here is info on VAG block 066 FYI
066,0,Cruise Control System
066,1,Vehicle Speed,(current)
066,2,Switch Positions I
; 1xxx = Cruise Control System active
; x1xx = Clutch operated (always 1 with Automatic Transmission)
; xx1x = Brake operated (Brake Pedal Switch)
; xxx1 = Brake operated (Brake Light Switch)
066,3,Vehicle Speed,(specified)
066,4,Switch Positions II

do you have a wiring diagram? everything you have looks ok. can you start the car in gear at all?
i replaced my white plunger last weekend cause the spring inside broke. your vag readings say it working ok.
did you have any dtc?

I had the same problem with my clutch switch....
Did you jump the switch out and try to start the car? I tested the switch when I removed it but I dont recall what the readings were. It was defiantely the culprit in my case.

will track this for tomorrow if you still need a hand.

Yes, there's one that senses if the clutch is fully engaged (pedal out) and one
that senses if the clutch is fully released (pedal in). It would make sense if the cruise control switch was the former (white plunger..big sucker) and the starting switch was the latter (small black switch). Otherwise the car would start with the clutch part-way out and cruise control would try to burn the clutch.
The white plunger switch makes changes to the 2nd variable in block 66. The black switch doesn't do anything in any blocks that I looked at. Manually depressing either does not allow the car to start. The black switch shorts the 2 leads when it's depressed. One wire is grounded, one is floating..no voltage w/ accessory on either.
Going to ask Farbs to swap ECUs w/ me to see what happens.
