...because the delivery company you instruct to only accept a cashier's check will often accept a company check or any other kind of check. Plus even if they accept a cashier's check, you have no way of verifying if it is fraudulent until you receive it and attempt to cash it.

Default agreed. If someone can't pay for it before you ship it, it isn't worth the sale
Paypal at least allows both parties an electronic paper trail.
