Default Color me stupid, but here's some ???'s

I own an '01 S4 that I purchased 3 weeks ago w/ 54k miles on it. The car is absolutely flawless; no defects anywhere other than I've noticed that one of the 3 fuel level sensors is tango uniform. Runs really quick. The dealer stated that the owner purchased the car from them and traded for an A8, and that all the miles are highway. I would normally say, "Yeah, right, my ***." But the car is really super clean, and the past maint history from Audi follows that the prev owner was as **** as I am at taking care of things. Ok, 'nuff said on this; my questions come up now.

I met a guy today with a '00 S4 19k mile laser red 6 speed car, and he asked me, "54k? Does the care still "have it"?" (meaning, i guess, that an S4 w/ +50k miles on it might be a slug or something) Is there something that I should know, like is there any truth to what this guy was getting to, or was he being fly?

Same guy, he stated that I have the Azus wheels and that I should keep them, because he had the RS4 wheels (which he did) and that he was sorry he bought them. He stated that the wheels were weak and that the Azus wheels were stronger, as well as that he had "flattened(?)" two RS4 wheels already because "he drives his car really hard". Hard enough to blow out an RS4 forging or two?

He flew off at the traffic light and I didn't see him again, but if I could find this guy, I'd tell him that his S4 was smoking REALLY BAD as he was taking off. Looked and smelled like oil smoke. Also appeared that the rear suspension was damaged or really weak, as the rear was diving really hard on each shift, and the car didn't seem to be moving off really fast.

The tailpipe on my car is very black and sooty. I just cleaned it up two weeks ago and it's nasty again. Any known issues here? The dealer said it's OK and common on all 2.7T engines, but as a retired F-16 crewchief and a former Porsche/Audi mechanic in the 4K/5K/924/928 days, I don't know to trust the dealer or not.

Cheers
Kevin

exhaust okay, mine same way. be careful, you have no more warranty. suggest getting an aftermarket warranty. the car should run fine, the engine doesn't expire after 50K, just maintain well. congrats and good luck.

Default Well....

the RS4 wheels are Very Soft and have been known to bend. Our wheels are called Avus, (made by Ronal ;- ), I dont know about the black tips, but I wash my car everyweek, and usually they are a bit black. I have almost 54K on my car, and its still Awesome, not a slug in anyway. ;- ) If there was smoke (blueis/whiteish/blackish) coming out of his exhaust, he may be having an affair with the Turbo Lady. :- 0

Default Actually, I made the dealer do things my way.

I had them make the vehicle an "Audi Assured" unit with a bumper to bumper warranty good for an additional 2 years or to 100k miles. And at no additional cost to me.
