You COULD get a virus through the serial port of your laptop IF you were transfering a FILE (application) FROM the car, which number one, doesn't happen and number two, you would still need to RUN such file.
The vag protocol is simple commands, no 'files' get transmitted.
There are ways to 'flash' (and download from) your ECU BUT you need a specific tool/software for that, and again, you would need to run the file OR the software would need to be programmed/modified so it would run/install the malicious code itself.
