Cool wife, plus tanoga install stuff
My wife surprised me with picking up a Tanoga short shifter from Zev. Thanks to Don P. of AW for getting the info on the purchase to my wife. She even knew my build-date off the top of her head when Zev asked. (She said she recalls hearing me tell someone it was July '01 and remembered it.) As she says, she gets many cool points for this one. The shifter's not here yet, but on its way.
I have searched the archives on install issues and just spent $100 on tools. For that, I probably could have gotten it installed and saved the sure-to-come frustration. On the tool thing, what the heck is a "ball headed hex wrench?" The guy at Sears looked at me like I had a booger on my forehead. Anyways, I picked up what I believe to be "circlip" pliers, 3/8 torx bits, magnetic wand, ratchet screwdriver, vise grips, 6mm wrench, Elmer's glue for the washers, 6" extention and 3/8 drive extension. Otherwise, I have a pretty basic set of tools and should be good to go. Do I need this ball headed wrench?
If it's not painfully obvious from this message, I am probably going to need some help with the install. I have e-mailed Jim De Arras (who lives about 5 miles from me) to set up a time to do the install under his supervision. If Jim is not around, is anyone else in the central VA area available to help a novice out?
Also, the rs4.org site is down, and I can't get the install instructions. Can anyone shoot me those if installed on your computer so I can print them out? TIA, and I'll post my review provided I get the thing in.

RS4.org instructions load up for me...
But I don't now what a ball headed hex wrench either. What I found most useful in installing the dozen or so short shifters, is a hex and torx bit set which you can attach to a standard socket.
Just spend some good time in the adjustment part after you get your shifter in.

Ball-headed allen wrenches:

First:
Imagine a standard hex wrench but the end of the long part is rounded into a sort of ball.
This allows you to get into the head of the screw at a more forgiving angle.

I just missed you at West Broad Audi. . .
I pulled in to see what was on the lot and you were leaving. I'll call this weekend. BTW, in case anyone is interested, there's an '00 Nogaro on the lot for $32,000 with about 50K on the odometer. Looks clean (and stock).
