coolant light

Default coolant light

i am stumped on this problem. i have a 2000 s4 with a apr chip. after about a month or so my coolant light started flashing. my coolant level is fine, i replaced a coolant sensor with a new green top sensor, and i still have the flashing light. any help would be awesome. thanks zac

check the sensor on the bottom of the reservoir

Remove the 3 screws and turn over the expansion tank. Either a loose connection or bad connector.

Your green top coolant temp.sensor is not the same as the coolant level sensor.Check the connector under the expansion tank,make sure that it's pluged in.

my sensor is fine and plugged in. is there anything else that can go bad for this reason?

after 5 secs of the car running the coolant light comes on every time. so im very stumped on this

Default Cue the broken wire answer. Just because the connector is attached, doesn't mean current is getting

to the proper wire. Unplug the connector at the expansion tank, get a short piece of wire, bend it into a "U" shpae and connect it to both terminals on the connector. Start the car and if this cures the warning, you have a defective sensor or the wires aren't making contact. This ain't rocket science - the answer should be pretty simple, hopefully (unless you have a break in the wiring harness somewhere).

Or the wires close to the connector are corroded and there is a break. Hopefully not a harness issue
