Coolant Question: I got the "Big Thermometer" on the way
home this evening. My coolant level was pretty low. Now the owners manual say to "never use any coolant additive other than our G12 A8D additive"...well since the dealer wasn't close, or open....I went to Autozone and bought a bottle of Preston Precision premixed coolant and filled her up.
The owner's manual states there will be serious repurcusions, is this true or just "marketing" at its finest???
thanks, and yes I am a noob.

Not sure if there will be major repurcusions, but I wouldve used distilled water to limp....
till I could get to the dealer tomorrow.
I honestly havent a clue the difference in chemical makeup between G12 and other antifreeze, other than G12 is better for our cars.

This has happened to me before and I used distilled water to top off until I could get more G12..
I did have them check my low temp limit afterword at the dealer, because I was going up skiing and didn't want to crack my block. My coolant was still good for -35F, which was good enough.
