Default a couple of folks asked for an update on Cactus ASP GT28RS.. (long, nothing exciting)

So I'll keep you updated, sorry that I've lagged, but holidays, some personal issues etc, has pushed the car to the back burner.

She is still throwing some rich codes. If I clear the codes and go, she is fast, low 3.xx second fats on 91 octane.. However she ends up throwing too rich codes due to part throttle conditions. My take is that it's our CA gas yet again, oxygenated and other crap.

The car will run the numbers, but if I cruise around she throws rich codes and I end up only being able to get 1 bar of boost (she is still quick, but not fast).

Mark@ASP and I have been working on a resolution. Mark continues to send me parts to swap out, Temp coolant sensor, replacement 02's, new ECU, new eprom, and some other stuff, so even though I doubt it's anything in the car at this point, we are still swapping out parts (and i could be wrong)

I really think the Ethanol in the East coast gas leaned things out, since Johns car (almost identical to Cactus, other then cams and exhaust (hahaha), ran both my programs (93 and 91) on East Coast 91/93 ethanol nased fules and had no issues, and his car runs into the high 2's FATS times on 93 pump.

So Cactus is running, I drive her everyday back and forth from work, but due to ASP being on the other side of the US, it's a bit hard to troubleshoot, but they are assisting. I hope to get this ironed out soon (but being that it's like 29 degrees and stuff at night, I'm not out logging (too damn cold))..

Sure, it should of been perfect, but it's a project and unfortunately the 91 octane that I sent, sat around for almost 9 months. and then there was probably not enough real road tuning on my gas (it was old).. Johns 93 and my 91 file work great with "their" gas, but over here as many know it's the suck and I think Mark is starting to figure that out. Hell it took APR a few years and only when they finally shipped in some CA gas did they figure it out (still need some stage 2 fixes guys! ).

So ya a bit disappointed but it's being worked out. Troy continues to tell me that it's too be expected, it's a project and most of the time there are hurdles.

I'll provide more details when something changes for the good or the bad.

And other then the 3" ASP DP's and Trudual being much louder then I'm used to, she sounds great when it's race time, just a bit loud when I'm being clark kent, I like her. She has power everywhere, there is no preceived lag and twisties no issue, sometimes she feels like a mild manor V8 vs a peaky turbo car

I'll send out your shifter next week. I'm slammed this week with "real" work.

Default Your low 3 second FATS - was that when you could only run 1 bar? What PSI do you normally run? Also

it would be badass if you could get some videos some time :-)

Default Could you fill up on race gas and log 4th gear 3k-7500 WOT? :)

That would be awesome.

No I'm no where near low 3's when I am at a bar, sucking in a whopping 220g/s of air

Default Not octane rating, it's something in the gas, I tried with 100 octane 76 fuel and

ran into the same ****, since it's still based on CA formula.

I need to run some ethanol based fuel, but can't find any.. someone driving down from the east coast, bring a 5 gallon jug with ya?

But seriously tried 100 no difference, none at all, zero..

Cactus runs at 2 bar when she is not limp, 28-30psi. and I see 280-290g/s with a 90mm MAF rs4 airbox

Default Never had that problem switching fuels Tory. IMO you need to look elsewhere. Good luck figuring it

out.
