Default Couple Q's regarding replacing front control arms: any special tools needed? Any special parts or

items needed other than the control arms and new nuts and bolts? I read DAP's post about lowering the subframe to extract the bolt for the lower trailing control arm and having to drop the suspension plate to extract the bolt for the upper leading control arm. I have no clue what that means but assume I'd figure it out when I'm under the car.

I have regular tools and a regular jack. Do I need anything else special?

Thanks.<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/2307403.phtml">DAP's post</a></li></ul>

Default A ball joint puller comes in handy for the lower curved arm.

I've posted a link and pic a few months ago from a supplier that worked out well for me.

Default Call digi and say pretty please.

He has the ball joint tool for the lower CA's. Make sure your head isn't in the way when the tool finally breaks the LCA free.

For the uppers...Alex did it the way DAP's post suggested...after we were done, Alex concluded it's easier to just remove the 2 13mm nuts up in the engine bay, remove the lower shock bolt and pull the shock and spring off the car...then you'll have complete access to the inside bolt on the UCA's. It's easier to torque that bolt when the plate is bolted to the car, rather than when the whole thing is sitting in your lap.

Default Definitely easier to pull the whole thing. You don't need a control arm puller either if you do it

that way. You can just flip the upright upside down and pound the isht out of it...

You really don't. It's pretty straightforward. As it happens, I'm doing mine tomorrow, too
