Default Crankshaft bearings and crankshaft pics... unusual?

I can't figure out how to post pics... but here's the link to my imagestation album. We yanked the motor out and took off the oil pans. We inspected the crankshaft bearings and found them looking like that. From my knowledge, they shouldn't look like that... like the crankshaft is not round anymore, more oblong.

Also there are two pics of the crankshaft, seems like some discoloring on the crankshaft itself like from an intensive heat.

(Sorry the pics were taken with my 1 megapixel camera phone)

http://www.imagestation.com/album/pictures.html?id=2121938584</a

Doesn't look very promising. You should mic the crankshaft... that should tell you everything.

Default Yes. Take it down to your local machine shop... they can throw it on the machine for you...

It ALMOST looks like your crank main bearing caps failed? Maybe from inproper torquing of the mains?

Do you have a link to the original thread? I think I missed it.

You should be able to turn your crank, line bore the block and buy new bearings... unless there was other damage.

Default Yea... sheesh, this post is making me consider keeping my spare motor :/

But it's such a temptation to build it up to monstre specs... must fight temptation.

It'd fit real nice in the RX-7... must fight temptation
