cv joint kit bolts
my 01 s4 has the allen style bolts that you need to replace when you replace the outer boots. The kit I got from ecs came with hex bolts instead of the allen bolts) is there any differance in the bolt? Per ECS ( who was very helpfull on the phone) they said that it is the way they get the kits. I was wondering if any one out there knew if it mattered what bold the s4 used. The kits are uni for Audi and VW/
Thanks

The stock bolts are 12-point (triplesquare), not allen. And it doesn't make much of a difference,
other than the fact that hex heads make it easier to work on without specialty tools.

fwiw, my stock was 17mm allen, not triple-square. replaced with hex head bolts. no issue.

The outer CV bolt is a 17mm allen, the inner bolts that mount the shaft to the tranny are 12 pt
The replacement kits (non-oem) from GKN driveline use a normal six sided bolt, not an allen...you should not have any problems at all with the different style bolt that came in your kit.

Sorry, my mistake, I was thinking of the bolts that hold the shaft to the drive flange. You are...
correct, the outer axle bolt is an allen from the factory. And no, it doesn't make a difference.
