What is reliable and in what condition? The question is fairly complex.

Default Our question is not what "race" MAX is, it's what did he as the engine

designer for a production based motor(RS4) think the max was on stock RS4 internals. I understand that designing for a race car is different. The point is that I'm sure in the course of his work on the production car, they did have a upper limit for the stock internals(RS4).

I've heard 550(crank) is about all they thought it could take or all they would risk taking it to. Obviously the production car was not at that limit.

Default indeed it was. find me a failed 2.7T crank please? :p

its a fairly thick forged steel crank supported by thick webs and four bolt mains - what more can you ask for?
