a good investment, but I don't want a big dumb CB antenna. Could you connect it to the antenna in the rear glass? or hide is somewhere in the car? Has anybody done something to hide a scanner antenna in their car?

what kind of scanner do you want?

If you're talking about a CB radio, to monitor Channel 19, then the antenna is pretty big because the frequency is low (28 mhz)...
but if you want a scanner for listening to police/fire/EMS frequencies, the antenna is much smaller because the frequencies are usually above 400 mhz. One of these antennas could be mounted on the rear deck, inside the vehicle, if you use a quarter wave antenna which would only be a few inches tall. Also, this antenna would be able to pick up nearby CB transmissions but it can't transmit them too well.

Don't waste your money. It does not work.
After 3 cross country moves with one I can tell you it is a waste of electricity. It never, ever warned me of an actual police threat. Save your money and buy a CB radio instead.

It's a Yaesu...
actually a ham-radio which receives a lot more than just ham radio frequencies. I put the receiver I put in the trunk under the CD changer.

http://www.yaesu.com/
