I'm trying to figure out if I want to buy an s4. Dealer in town has about 5 2001, going at a good deal. I've read about problems with the turbo's going bad, audi voiding warranties, transmission on the 6 speed(2nd gear), TBB cracking.... Is this a majority or a small mintority. Would you recommend the car to others? What do you love most about your car?

It's safe, luxurious, fun, and despite what some say, very reliable. Most, on these pages, that run into problems drive their cars pretty hard with some severe mods and race on weekends.
Under normal driving conditions in stock, everything should be fine for many years. If you drive like a maniac and go to the dragstrip every other night, you will have problems from time to time S4 or not.

as it was pointed out to me, problems are a small minority. S4 is incredible!

What town is this dealer in? Can't seem to find more than 1 2001 S4 per dealer near me (Phil, PA)

YBH in Edgemont (Philly suburb) had 4 or more new S4's when I was there recently.

It gives me everything I want in a car. It is the perfect blend of performance, luxury, and utility for me. There is literally nothing else out there that I would rather have. (Well, except maybe an RS4 if it were available here.)

BTW, both my previous A4 and my current S4 have been perfectly reliable.

But it really depends what you want out of the car. If you want a 4 door car that is lots of fun to drive, combines comfort, luxury and sportiness, does it for the least amount of money, S4 is for you. I agree with the post below that states the problems are usually with people that are modding their cars heavily AND are driving tracking them or always driving them hard.
Even at then, the problems are few and far in between.
I have had my S4 for 6 months and have had zero problems.
