Default I wouldn't let him. Take your car to someone who knows what they are doing, not the Subie guy

or the dealer for that matter.

Default

No less risky than a noob DIY.

Default i would compare it to a Novell Expert trying to on a Windows Network or vice versa

Each know what they are doing and probably very good at what they are trained for but the lack of experience in the other application is the drawback as they would have to consult people for answers. It's your call on that one.

Default yes it is. if you DIY, you have a vested interest in getting it right, and if something does go

wrong, you know exactly what you did.

IMO if you cant find a mechanic that knows these cars, a DIY with plenty of research beforehand and lots of digital pics of how things come apart along the way would be your best bet..

im hardly an expert on anything though, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

Default Good point unless the Subie tech is 1) highly experienced and 2) you know his character personally.

But I can't agree more about the inherent need to have it done right.

Default even then, i'd want the subie guy to read up on what some of the common install issues are

or maybe talk to someone thats done a bunch of 2.7 turbo swaps just to get a heads up on common issues.
