Does adding "high-quality" spark plugs help performance?

I'm running "Iridium" plugs....
almost 20 bucks a piece. They had BETTER help! =)
I've heard of people switching from stock plugs to Beru Silverstones to curb pinging on A4's running the K04's.....
There have been tests on my particular spark plug that indicates hp gains with a hotter spark over a colder heat range, using coil pak ignition....but to be honest i can't tell the difference. The only time i felt a difference was when i first put them in.....brand new plugs vs. 28000 mile old plugs. And the placebo effect too.....heehhehe.
